O Messenger of Allah, has there ever been a day harder for you than the day of Uhud? He said, 'Yes.' This was Aisha's question, she used to say Uhud, because his head was wounded, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and his incisor tooth was broken, and the helmet entered his cheeks, and he was wiping the blood, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, from his forehead and saying, 'O Allah, forgive my people, for they do not know.' And seventy of his companions were killed, and the master of martyrs, his uncle and foster brother Hamza, may Allah be pleased with him and satisfy him, the lion of Allah and the lion of His Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was killed. So Aisha thought that this was the hardest night, so she said, 'O Messenger of Allah, has there ever been a day harder for you than the day of Uhud?' He said, 'Yes.' Taif? Yes, it was the night of Taif. He said, 'The night I presented myself to Ibn Abdi Yalil ibn Abd Kulal, and he did not answer me.' There were three of them, each one stood up and philosophized to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and they incited their fools and children to stone him with stones, may Allah bless him and his family and grant him peace. And some scholars said, 'Well, why was the night of Taif harder than Uhud?' He said, 'Uhud, the injury was physical, meaning the wounds could be treated, but Taif was a psychological, internal injury. No one knows what is inside you, what was broken inside you internally.'
