Therefore, it is not just one level, but what is the greatest of these methods and what is the best of these methods by consensus? It is the interpretation of the Quran by the Quran, by consensus. This method, Al-Suyuti says, the scholars said: whoever wants to interpret the Holy Book, let him use the Quran. The scholars said. Yes, Taqi al-Din Ibn Taymiyyah, in the introduction to the principles of interpretation, mentioned that the best way to interpret the Quran is the interpretation of the Quran by the Quran. Then he said: If it exhausts you, meaning if you are unable, by searching the Quran in all ways, and you did not find the solution, then here he said: You must follow the Sunnah. You know, and this is originally what the Quran requires. Allah Almighty says: 'Indeed, this Quran guides to that which is most suitable.' So, if we ask what is the most suitable way to reach the Quran, it is the Quran. You know, and this is the methodology of Prophethood, like the example I mentioned to you a little while ago. When the companions were alarmed to the Prophet, peace be upon him, they said: O Messenger of Allah, who among us has not wronged? Allah Almighty says: 'Those who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice.' What did he do? He interpreted the Quran with the Quran. He returned to: 'Indeed, association [with Him] is great injustice.' So it is the methodology of Prophethood. And consequently, for example, but unfortunately today we have a derogatory view of interpreting the Quran with the Quran. I mean, this interpretation was the pillar of scholars in the first era and was the methodology of Prophethood, and it is the methodology that the scholars agreed upon, but now it has been abandoned in our era. Now, as soon as they hear you talking about the Quran, they say to you: This person denies the Sunnah. This, they have a negative stance towards it, so they have a phobia of the Quran. So here we are afflicted with two groups: a group that wants to limit itself to the Quran only, you know, and denies the Sunnah, and a group that, without realizing it, wants to limit itself to the Sunnah and neglect the Quran. You know, and therefore, everyone who approaches the Quran, they say to you: This is a Quranist. No, this is the greatest way to interpret the Quran, which is returning to the Quran itself. But we ignore, for example, Sheikh Muhammad al-Amin al-Shinqiti, 60 years ago, wrote his book 'Adwa' al-Bayan fi Idah al-Quran bil-Quran'. Well, does he deny the Sunnah? No, he does not deny the Sunnah, but he relied on the greatest method in interpreting the Quran, which is the interpretation of the Quran by the Quran, okay? Therefore, the interpretation of the Quran by the Quran is the best way, but it is not the only way.
