A while ago, I was contemplating the phrase 'knowledge is power', 'science is power', the phrase of Francis Bacon, the Western philosopher after whom the philosophy of modernity was launched. This phrase, 'knowledge is power', you find it even in some Islamic schools, environments, and Islamic universities. When you think, does the Quran see that knowledge is power? Does the logic of Francis Bacon fit the logic of the Quran? You contemplate the Quran and then you find, no. If knowledge is power in Western thought, then knowledge is responsibility in the Quran. 'And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned.' You will be questioned about all of this. Ah, so now I have corrected my idea, instead of repeating with people 'knowledge is power, knowledge is power', no, knowledge is responsibility. My logic as a Muslim differs because the Quran corrects my thinking.
