The king accepted that Joseph, peace be upon him, would become the Chief Minister of Egypt Imagine, from a prisoner to a minister! The king loved him and found comfort in his words so much that he granted him extensive authority in the country He used to sit with him frequently It is said that the king was pleased with the religion of Joseph, peace be upon him, so he embraced Islam, and Allah knows best Some historical accounts suggest that the wife of the minister married Joseph, peace be upon him, after her husband passed away, and Allah knows best Joseph assumed the ministry and organized the affairs of the state He was understanding, knowledgeable, and Allah had granted him success Joseph, peace be upon him, utilized his ministry to invite people to Allah, the Almighty The first seven years of abundance came, and Joseph encouraged people to engage in agriculture Everyone who is capable of farming should do so, and you will give me one-fifth of what you harvest, so that we may store it in the treasury Numerous storehouses were built to preserve this food Then came the seven years of hardship In the first year, people felt that there was no rain and that the crops were dying Joseph ordered them to preserve the seeds and grains since there was no rainfall Do not sow the seeds in the land, lest they should rot The people listened to Joseph, peace be upon him The grains remained in their storehouses, they were consumed from them little by little The peoples and nations around Egypt did not do what Joseph did in Egypt The famine began to kill people And people spread the news that there were communities dying of hunger People heard and spread the news that Egypt had goodness by the grace of Allah and then by this minister They began to flock to Egypt, searching for food
