Whoever does not have this time in mind, let him bring it to mind. Those who are in this time, my brothers, there is none of us, I tell you, there is none of us but is being spoken to. A statement will be said to you, so look at which of the two statements is said to you. This destiny that we are all heading towards, many hadiths have come about it from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, including a hadith whose narrators are many from the Companions: Aisha, Abu Hurairah, Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib, Jabir ibn 'Abdullah, and others. The authors of the two Sahihs, the Sunan, the Masanid, and the dictionaries narrated that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, went out one day for the funeral of a man from the Ansar. They reached the grave, and it had not yet been dug, its digging was not completed. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, sat on its edge, and the people sat around him. In the hand of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was a stick with which he was poking the ground. He said, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to those around him, "O my brothers, for a day like this, prepare." Then he wept, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, until those around him wept. "For a day like this, prepare." This mosque is where funerals are prayed. I do not think that there is anyone among you who has not witnessed a funeral here, and he will one day be a funeral that people will witness. This moment requires preparation, my brothers. It requires preparation. This should be the work of the son of Adam. If you are occupied with this, your work will be righteous, your heart will be righteous, and your limbs will be righteous, because you know, you have become not heedless of what you are heading towards and walking towards. Look, this thing, our Sharia has informed us about it. People in the Jahiliyyah knew that they were heading towards something, but they could not find anyone to inform them. Imru' al-Qais says, "We are being driven to a matter of the unseen, and we are enchanted by food and drink." "Mawdi'in" (being driven) is a type of walking, a type of movement. We are being driven to this matter. We are being driven to it, we are running towards it, we are walking towards it, but we are enchanted, we are distracted by food and drink. We should not be distracted as we were distracted by food and drink. The life of this world is only play, play. And look at "in-nama" (only), the saying of our Lord, glory be to Him, at its beginning, "in-nama" (only), meaning this world is nothing but this. Do not think that it is something else. "The life of this world is only play, play, and amusement, and adornment, and boasting among you, and competition in wealth and children." This is the life of this world. Do not think that it is other than this. It is this. So do not let the play in it and the amusement in it distract you from the truth that you are heading towards. So he said, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, "For a day like this, prepare."
