English translation

Before you remain silent about the truth for fear of people's reaction, contemplate this verse: Do you fear them? But Allah has more right that you should fear Him, if you are believers. When everyone around you is pleased with you, this is not a sign of goodness. A righteous man passed by a funeral and heard a man saying about the deceased, 'May Allah have mercy on him, he never bothered anyone.' The righteous man said, 'Oh you, you have disparaged him,' meaning that the deceased did not enjoin good or forbid evil so that no one would be upset with him. So my message is, whenever you feel the fear of people's reaction, remember the hadith of our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: 'Whoever seeks the pleasure of Allah by the displeasure of people, Allah will be pleased with him and will make people pleased with him.' And Allah is the One whose help is sought.
